Peggy Wolf
I often look at illustration agencies to get inspiration off other ilustrators, it was from doing this that i came across an illustrator named Peggy Wolf. Peggy Wolf is a German illustrator who works mainly for fashion magazines. I instantly loved her work and use of collage and colour.
To me her collages are her best pieces, they instantly drew me in and made me want to see more. Her use of colours and shapes make the main features stand out, as these pieces was for a magazine the fashion side of it really sticks out. She really knows how to appeal to her target audience with her use of composition, feminine women, colours and backgrounds.
I feel that she is a brilliant artist to work in the fashion side of illustration, she really knows how to show off the fashion by bringing out the colours and her use of collage in the background and faces etc. i find Peggy's work very interesting and beautiful. I actually used he as inspiration for past brief were we had to deface a magazine cover. I found her very useful to use as inspiration with her block colours and use of nature.
However Peggy doesn't just use collage in her illustrations. She also does fashion portraits in water colour paint. Her use of colour again is beautiful, the subtle shadows and soft lines are really effective. I also really like her use of texture and final details on the hair and the odd outline works really well.
The dripping of the paint and the use of shadow on the faces make these pieces stand out from the rest in my opinion. Unlike her others there are no bold lines or strong uses of colour in the two above. i love how the colour from her hand drips down the rest of the canvas using minimal colour.
